Black Roe is London Mayfair’s new Poke Bar and Grill.
The Poke Bar serves Pacific Rim cuisine, inspired by Hawaiian Poke traditions and seafoods from the islands that surround the Pacific Rim.
Poke (pronounced POH-kay) simply means ‘chunk’ in Hawaiian.
For centuries, Hawaiian fishermen cut their catch of raw fish into cubes and seasoned it with whatever ingredients they had.
Modern versions bring in seasonings from the many different cultures of the islands surrounding the Pacific Rim.
Jordan Sclare, Executive Chef for the NZR Group of restaurants, which also owns Chotto Matte, is taking Poke to the next level at Black Roe.
The menu he’s designed is so popular that the restaurant is now booked 2 months in advance – crazy when you think it’s only be open for a month.
The Grill offers a creative selection of the most succulent meats, including Bison Rib Eye, Lamb, Chicken, Pork and Beef.
